Building Brum: Construction Through Collaboration

In partnership with Careys, chaired by Cundall, hosted by MEPC

As the UK’s second city, how do we better use and harness the local supply chain’s specialist knowledge, insight and skills? Essential to us innovating, improving, and becoming better every day.

This May alongside our construction partners Carey’s we will be joined by some of Birmingham’s top built environment industry leaders at our latest roundtable to ask them one key question: “How do we better use and harness the local supply chain’s specialist knowledge, insight and skills? Essential to us innovating, improving, and becoming better every day”?

As follow-up to our earlier Building Brum: Construction Though Collaboration roundtable event which explored ‘We all play a part in the product we leave behind and operational excellence is about getting better every day.  How do we elevate standards from the first point of contact with architects and planners through to project completion and beyond, to truly deliver operational excellence?’. This May our guests will focus on Partner Of Choice and explore ask the question: ‘How do we become a Partner of choice for our clients, to help solve their complex construction challenges and work collaboratively?’

A Partner of Choice

  • What does Partner of Choice mean to you and your organisation?

  • Rational v Emotional – Does being a true partner of choice to clients mean focusing less on transactional requirements (i.e. price) and more on guidance and advice?

  • New clients v existing clients - As well as strengthening relationships with existing clients, how do we form fresh relationships with new clients who not only match the credentials of our top existing clients, but also present new opportunities for our pipeline / portfolio?

  • Supply chain partners – As the UK’s second city, how do we better use and harness the local supply chain’s specialist knowledge, insight and skills?

  • Industry influencers – Client influencers, the media, and trade bodies can all help us be a positive and insightful voice in the industry and help ensure there is a deep understanding of the benefits of the projects being delivered in Birmingham and the positive impact these have on the community.  How important is it to work with these key stakeholders, bringing them on the journey and what we are delivering?
