Join the CIOB online to hear about the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment, Perry Barr and see how the construction works are progressing.

The webinar will begin with an overview of the scheme and the associated legacy benefits for Perry Barr and the wider region. You will then be shown a pre-recorded video containing drone footage of the construction works, including the ongoing steel installation.

Following this, the structural engineering design of the new West Stand will be explained, including how this is taking shape as a result of the steel installation works.

You will then be told about the stakeholder engagement and social value activities which have been ongoing throughout the construction period, before the session concludes with a live question and answer session.

Special guest speakers:

Mark Andrews - Senior Structural Engineer, Building Engineering, Arup

Mark is the lead Structural Engineer (Arup) for the Alexander Stadium, overseeing the structural and civil design of the project from Scheme through to Construction (with the team novated to the contractor following appointment). Mark’s background has been in stadia and arenas for the last 8+ years, with a history of well-known projects including the Olympic Stadium (London), Tottenham, Qatar 2022, Lords Cricket Ground, and work for the NEC (Birmingham)


Martin Keys - Operations Director, McLaughlin & Harvey

Martin is an Operations Manager with 18 years’ experience in the construction industry. Martin is the Client Liaison and is responsible for the construction of the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment project.


Hannah Lamont - Social Value Coordinator, McLaughlin & Harvey

Hannah is a Social Value Coordinator for McLaughlin & Harvey. Hannah is a local graduate from the University of Birmingham and is currently responsible for delivering the Social Value workstream at the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment project.


Paul Robertson - Associate Director, Project Management, Mace

Paul is an Associate Director who is part of the Sport & Leisure delivery team with Mace. Paul joined Mace in 2011 as a graduate and has delivered a range of sport and leisure projects for both private and public sector clients, ranging from stadium, swimming pools, heritage and forestry works. Paul is currently the lead project manager for the Alexander Stadium, working on behalf of Birmingham City Council.


Jade Tilley - Senior Planner, Arup

Jade is a Senior Town Planner, experienced in undertaking stakeholder engagement and public consultation for a variety of projects. Jade is currently the Stakeholder and Public Liaison Manager for the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment project.
