Colico Living together with their partner Topland Group have announced their acquisition of Beneficial Building in Birmingham for the provision of a best in class Build to Rent development.
The building, which will be renamed Paradise View, and which housed the former Snobs nightclub, is located in the centre of Birmingham directly opposite the Paradise Circus regeneration scheme, and close to New Street Station and the Town Hall. The former office building has been derelict for many years and will now be given a new life as a residential building.
Jon Stewart, Director at Colico said: “The site offers potential to complete the regeneration of this prime city centre area, the development of the site is challenging, being over the mainline railway line, but with the help of Network Rail and Birmingham City Council, this derelict site can now be brought back to life.”
Plans to turn the former Snobs nightclub into 180 flats had previously been denied by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee.
The proposal included a change of use from offices to residential together with a planning application for an additional storey of accommodation added to the roof, a retail unit facing Paradise Street and facilities for residents including a roof terrace.
The partnership expect to be on site later this year for completion in 2023. Once complete the development will provide 159 apartments together with 12,000 sqft of ancillary amenity, leisure and retail space within the heart of Britains second city.
