Curzon Circle Construction Underway

Glancy Nicholls Architects are pleased to announce their design for the Curzon Circle student accommodation scheme in Birmingham City Centre, has been approved under a Section 73 application by Birmingham City Council.

GNA were appointed by Torsion Developments to redesign the outline plans of a previously approved planning application, calling upon our experience and understanding of the student residential sector and delivery of significant complex inner-city schemes.  The designs were reconfigured to provide 290 high end studio apartments, ideally located within close proximity to neighbouring universities and the city centre.

Glancy Nicholls Architects have designed a prism shaped 15 storey tower structure configured to front onto the key Curzon vehicle and railway nodes into and out of the city core. A five-storey accommodation wing provides a responsive massing form to neighbouring buildings.

Use of blue brickwork at the base of the building is influenced by the local railway architecture of the surrounding area, whilst a composition of metallic silver finishes to the tower contributes a contemporary addition to the Birmingham Eastside skyline.

The proposed residences provide a host of amenity spaces with a gym, work lounge and private dining space combined with a landscaped external courtyard at the centre of the development.

Construction on site has now commenced with Glancy Nicholls Architects delivering the project alongside Torsion Group as contractor. The scheme is targeting completion in Summer 2022
