New plans have been unveiled for a £120 million mixed-use development in Birmingham city centre

Solihull-based developer BPG has submitted a planning application for the development of an 11-storey mixed-use scheme on Gooch Street North in the city centre.

The proposed development located within Oasis Southside, a 2.5 brownfield acre has a gross development value of £120m.

If given the green light by city planning chiefs, this scheme will see a series of buildings be constructed in a square block reaching up to 11 storeys containing 456 apartments and 5,500 sq ft of ground floor commercial space. Alongside a landscaped courtyard and a private 7,000 sq ft rooftop terrace as well as a new pedestrian street to the south of the project.

John Tebbutt, development consultant at BPG, said: “With close proximity to both the city centre and the new HS2 station, the development will prove highly attractive to both investors and owner occupiers alike.”

Knight Frank has been advising Solihull-based developer BPG throughout the process.

Mark Evans, head of regional residential development and investment at Knight Frank, added: “Birmingham Southside is currently undergoing a huge amount of exciting regeneration and redevelopment, which is totally transforming this part of the city centre. These latest proposals will deliver an additional 456 homes for Birmingham, and will be a catalyst for further investment. With travel between London and Birmingham set to become even faster and more convenient thanks to HS2, regional city centre developments like these will be in high demand. ”

Charles Gillett of Pennycuick Collins who has been advising the land owner The Gooch Estate said: “We are delighted to have concluded another substantial site disposal to BPG.”
