It's a year since Willmott Dixon launched its sector-leading strategy “Now or Never. Our Decisive Decade”. It set tough targets for the next ten years to address the climate emergency. But it requires industry-wide collaboration if we are to keep global warming below 1.5C.
August's UN IPPC report into climate change was “a code red for humanity”. According to sustainable development campaigner and Willmott Dixon non-executive director Jonathon Porritt, our industry is still not doing enough: targets remain too low – while others get rolled back, he claims.
With so much at stake, the only way we can prevent lasting damage to our planet is if we all pull together now to achieve a step-change in how our organisations tackle the biggest long-term challenge we face.
With COP26 addressing the built environment's contribution to climate change for the first time, our industry has a golden opportunity to put competition aside and create a world fit for future generations.
